The mission of the IEC-SME-project is to create a standard procedure to improve energy competence on SME-level that is simple, efficient, transnational, sustainable and non-profit oriented.

Raising energy awareness, saving energy, increasing efficiency of its use and the share of renewables, reducing emissions, increasing SME competitiveness, foster investments in sustainable energy methodologies and sustainable development - all these issues are starting points of the IEC-SME project. The project is a transnational initiative of public (provinces, chambers, universities, energy agencies) and private (SME's, expertise center, cluster agencies) organisations from all over EU. As business advisory services often lack energy aspects, it aims at creating an efficient, transnational and sustainable procedure to improve energy  competence on SME-level. By means of an integrated knowledge-supply chain by training modules for business support staff, their training as SME energy advisors, benchmarking infrastructure and implementation and reports on improving SME-energy performance, this project contributes to the EU Energy policy making and Kyoto objectives. It refers to the aims of the IEE programme and corresponds to the SME-demand. The partnership aims at extending the IEC-SME process EU-wide beyond the duration of this project.
